Hail Mary Full Grace
The Holy Family is the perfect model of two loving parents focused on raising their Child to be a humble, servant of God. While Joseph played an important role, it is Mary, the mother of Jesus, that we know the best. In Jesus’ final words to His mother, as He was dying on the cross… When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And with those words Jesus gave his Mother to all of us. Mary became your mother and mine. Mary is, without question, the greatest mother to ever live. As our heavenly mother, she is always there for us.
Our mother Mary is there for all of us in many of the same ways that our earthly mother is there for us. She is our greatest possible intercessory prayer partner. Whatever we ask her in prayer that doesn’t go against her Son’s teachings, she will deliver to the foot of our Heaven Father. Then His will be done.

Pentecost and The Holy Spirit
Approximately Eleven hundred days, that is the number of days that the disciples spent with the most amazing man to ever walk the face of the earth. More importantly, they got to know the man. I’m sure you can imagine how it would feel to know that someone you have grown close to, someone you have grown to truly love is going away. I know I would be confused, concerned, worried, I would also feel curious about how it would change, my life and how I would feel about the changes. I’m guessing that is how the twelve felt. The good news however is Jesus' promise of the coming advocate, the Holy Spirit. As He said in today’s Gospel, “For if I do not go, the Advocate will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.”
I truly believe the Holy Spirit is an overlooked treasure and gift from God we don’t turn to enough. He is always there for us, we simply need to turn to Him and ask for the assistance of the Holy Spirit. We need to find ways to be filled with the Holy Spirit everyday of our lives.

The Power Of Prayer
Jesus taught his disciples: "Ask and it will be given to you; Your Father knows what you need before you ask him." Jesus is trying to teach us the importance of prayer, and is offering more detail on how to bring our petitions to His Father. More importantly, He is telling us that our prayers, when brought to His Father in the correct way, are very effective. When we pray, first we have to lift up our hearts and minds to God because we sincerely love Him. So we might say something like… Dear Lord, you are kind and merciful, a God of compassion. I come to you in need. Please hear my prayer. We then need to give God thanks. So we might say something like… Lord, I thank you for the many blessing that you have given me and the graces that you have bestowed upon me. We then need to present to God our needs. So we ask Him for exactly what it is that we need, we make our request with a truly humble heart. We might say something like…Dear Lord, I find myself in a moment of desperate need, I need to feed my family and get to work tomorrow morning, if you can please hear and grant my request for the money to do those things, I would be humbly grateful.   Read more

I’m Deacon Ken Welcome To My Blog
[av_textblock size='' font_color='' color='' admin_preview_bg=''] St. Lawrence was one of the first seven deacons ordained into the Catholic Church. As a loyal servant to Pope St. Sixtus, Deacon Lawrence was martyred three days after Pope St. Sixtus was martyred. The Romans who had Deacon Lawrence martyred were so angry with him that they wanted to make his death as torturous as possible, so they had him slowly roasted alive.
The first seven deacons were ordained with the same words that are used today to ordain all permanent deacons. Becoming an ordained Catholic deacon in September of 2016 was one of the most humbling experiences in my life. It took the love, support and patience of several people to get me to that day and I will be eternally grateful to all of them and will continue to pray for each of them daily.

While my ordination may have been 9/24/2016, I believe the Lord called me long before then. Regardless of when He may have called the import thing was my answer. Myself and sixteen other men took vows to serve God, Our Bishop, Pastor and our parish communities.
