The Holy Family is the perfect model of two loving parents focused on raising their Child to be a humble, servant of God. While Joseph played an important role, it is Mary, the mother of Jesus, that we know the best.
In Jesus’ final words to His mother, as He was dying on the cross… When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And with those words Jesus gave his Mother to all of us. Mary became your mother and mine. Mary is, without question, the greatest mother to ever live. As our heavenly mother, she is always there for us.
Our mother Mary is there for all of us in many of the same ways that our earthly mother is there for us. She is our greatest possible intercessory prayer partner. Whatever we ask her in prayer that doesn’t go against her Son’s teachings, she will deliver to the foot of our Heaven Father. Then His will be done.
Mary’s goal was the same as every mother’s goal should be… to do everything possible to help your children get to heaven. Her mission wasn’t only focused on getting her son into heaven, but Mary knew that the only way mankind could get into heaven through her Son Jesus.
So what can we do on a daily basis to draw closer to Jesus? One of the most powerful things that we can do is honor the request of Mary and pray the rosary.
She has proven that by praying the rosary it unites us with her Son and it is only through Him that we can get to His Father’s kingdom.
I recently heard a very unique description of the rosary… it isn’t about the hail Mary’s it’s about meditating on the mysteries, which Mary considers it to be like a picture book of sorts…Every proud mother loves to show pictures of her kids and in this, Mary is no different. As you read the mysteries, imagine Mary is sharing with you pictures from the major events in her life with Jesus.
Whatever reason you may have that is holding you back from praying the rosary, strive to find a way to make it part of your life.
